Our Beloved Prophet!

President Gordon B. Hinckley 1910-2008

President Hinckley died last night at the age of 97! My first thoughts were, "OOOOHHHH! So sad" then, "Yes, he gets to see his wife." She passed away four years ago, and they were such an amazing couple. I also started to think about all the other people who would be there to meet him. It must have been one AMAZING reunion for him. He will be missed deeply. He did such amazing things with the church in the 12 years he was our Prophet.

It makes me think of a story I heard about after one of the prophets had died.(vague on details) A leader from another church spoke to one of the 12 apostles at the viewing of the belated Prophet. He offered his condolences on the passing of the Head of our church. The apostle then turned to the man and said, "Thank you but the head of our church has been dead about 2000 years now." It is something to pause and think about. I am so grateful for the restoration of the Gospel. I am thankful to know that God continues to love His children as He always has, and has put a Prophet on this earth to lead and guide us. The church is true...we will miss you President Hinckley. Thank you for being our beloved Prophet for so many years.

I agree with your feelings totally. I found out during refreshments after our Youth Fireside on the Temple which I had to speak at, when the Bishop made the announcement there were so many mixed feelings. I also enjoyed getting caught up on all the updates since I just got back from my week in Hawaii. The warm weather was great but now I'm back to this cold stuff. Keep the fun pictures coming.
